EvangeLead Conference

This morning, for my devotional time, I read these verses:

Matthew 9:13 (ESV): Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Matthew 9:36–38 (ESV): 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

The Greek for “send out” is a word that more commonly means to throw out, or drive out. Send out laborers is such a nice word. But driving out laborers is throwing someone out of someplace else. Could it be that Derek Morris is right about this? We need people who are cast out. People who are no longer able to stay put in their comfortable levels of life and are thrown out of their comfort level and become laborers for the harvest.

So the call is to pray that God will throw out people from their comfortable positions in church and become laborers for the kingdom. We are to pray that God will forcibly throw them out of their comfort zones into harvest work because the harvest is really so great…

No longer can we pray for God to seek to convict people of the harvest. This verse isn’t about casting vision to them. This isn’t about hoping they will become harvesters. Rather, we must now pray that God will press people into his service. That he will compel them. That he will throw them out of their comfort zones because the harvest is so great that he must forcibly move people into his service. Fascinating thought….

Today begins a journey I have desired to go on for some time now. We are hosting the first annual EvangeLead Conference www.EvangeLead.org.

The goal of this conference is to focus specifically on the science of evangelism and show people how to do it effectively. We have 75 people registered for it this year and already have someone requesting to host it in their area next year.

It’s been a busy time, because As we’ve been getting ready for this, I finally got my book published. Evangelism Intelligence: Why Adventist Churches Grow Differently.

If you’d like to get a copy of the paperback or ebook, you can order it by clicking here

This is an exciting time though. I’m spending much of my time coaching people, supporting people, and expending my energy on the kingdom.

And I am praying that God will “send out” however he wants to do it, laborers for the Harvest.
