S: “Jews demand miraculous sins and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach
Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.” 1
Corinthians 1:22, 23 “For God does speak – now one way, now another –
though man may not perceive it.” Job 33:14

O: Interesting how I see these two passages coming together. Interesting
how it appears to say the same thing. The Jews were looking for a
miraculous sign, so they couldn’t perceive the message of Christ crucified.
Greeks were looking for wisdom, so they couldn’t perceive the message of
Christ crucified.

A: So many people want God to say what they want him to say. So many people
are looking for the god of their making, rather than allowing God to be who
He is. I hope that I am not one of those people. My desire in life is to
let God be in charge of what He wants to tell me, how He wants to lead me,
and what He want me to do. I don’t want a god that I can fashion in my own
making, I want a God that is bigger than I am, smarter (that’s not hard)
than I am and One that is in charge of my life..

P: Lord, I confess today that often I try to read into the Bible what I want
it to say. I don’t want to live my life like that. I want to life my life
allowing you to speak to me the words you want to say. I want to listen to
you, Lord. I ask you into my heart. I pray you will fill me with the Holy
Spirit. I pray you will lead me. I love you.
